Providence Reformed Collegiate
Bus Behavior - Student Code of Conduct

Preamble
According to the law, “Every pupil is responsible for his or her conduct to the principal of the school that the pupil attends:
a. on the school premises
b. on out of school activities that are part of the school program
c. and while traveling on a school bus that is owned by a board or on a bus or a school bus that is under contract to the board.”

Code of Conduct Expectations

School transportation is a privilege that entails certain responsibilities.  Since the purpose of the bus is to provide safe, comfortable transportation to and from school, any student whose behavior threatens the comfort and safety of anyone will lose the privilege of using the school bus.  To ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, the following rules must be abided by:
Arrive at your stop on time so that busses can run according to schedule.
  1. Your conduct while waiting at the bus stop is to be orderly and safe.
  2. Board the bus in single file in an orderly manner.
  3. Go to your seat promptly and remain seated, unless otherwise directed by your driver.
  4. The aisle needs to be kept clear.  Objects that do not fit under the seat or on your lap may not be taken on the bus.
  5. Keep your arms and head inside the bus at all times, whether the bus is stopped or moving.
  6. Never interfere or block access to the emergency doors/exits.
  7. Remember that the bus driver is responsible for your safe transportation back and forth from school.   We cannot allow any disruptions to the bus driver – this includes, but is not limited to, moving seats, standing, throwing things, and excessive noise.
  8. Smoking and vaping is not permitted on the bus.
  9. Eating and drinking is not permitted on the bus.
  10. Never leave the bus at any stop, other than the ordinary stop without permission from the school or by a parent.
  11. Personal devices on the bus and student choices on how to use them are to reflect our Christian commitments and honour God.  We limit these devices for personal use – we ask that videos, music, etc. not be shared with others, but that students wear headphones or leave the device quiet.
